November 28-December 2, 2016
This year for Festival of Trees we want to make sure that all organizations participating are aware of the main purpose of this event. The trees being decorated are a way to lighten the mood for students before finals, and it is a great way for organizations to reach more students. The true purpose of this event is to give back to our community. Each of the trees that are decorated will be given to a family within Cache County who may be struggling financially this holiday season.
The Traditions committee would like the time spent decorating a tree worth it for both the organization-members and the family receiving the tree. As such, we will be charging a fee of $10 to reserve a tree (there are a limited number of trees available).
Please take time to plan decorations your club is proud of and a family will be happy to see this holiday season.
In order to help the organizations who put forth stellar effort, there will be prizes for:
- Most Creative- $50
- Most School Spirit- $50
- Student’s Choice #1- $100
- Students Choice #2- $75
- Students Choice #3- $50
(The money will be directly transferred into the organization’s budget through the university, and will be given to the organization that earns the most votes per category by the end of the week)
The tree decorating will begin on November 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm and continue until 7:00 pm.
Voting for trees will happen from 12:00-2:00 pm November 28-December 3, 2016. Additional voting will be available throughout any other student events happening that week, including Gingerbread House making contest, Lip-Sync Battle, Movie Night, and PoBev.
It is highly encouraged that organizations use social media to help their tree win a prize!
